Paula Cuthrell, DNP APRN FNP-BC, is a nurse practitioner within the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and a central education consultant for Advanced Practice Providers across the institution. During her 26 years as a practicing APRN, she has focused her clinical role on the care of pediatric and young adult patients in the areas of bone marrow transplantation, immunology and hematology/oncology practice.
Paula completed eight years as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Lead within the Department of Blood and Marrow Transplantation. Her Doctor of Nursing Practice research endeavors have been concentrated on the professional development of post graduate APPs and the study of their transition to practice needs. Paula has been instrumental in helping to develop an education series for APPs and RNs entitled “CBDI Education Series”. This program offers continuing education credit and APRN pharmacology credit for the nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses within CBDI and across other departments. She has led a RN and APP core group to develop an ongoing simulation program within the department of Oncology. As a central education lead, Paula is focused on implementing a new Transition to Practice Track for newly hired APPs to the inpatient setting across the institution in 2022.
