How can I participate in the Annual Conference?

This year, we have an in-person option (which includes online access) taking place in Salt Lake City, UT, and an online-only option you can attend from anywhere. So join us the way you’re able. Both formats will contain the same excellent education, the opportunity to earn CNE, on-demand access to education after the live event, and dedicated networking opportunities so you can connect with your fellow nurses, talk to speakers, and meet industry partners whether you’re joining us in-person, online, or both.

I am not able to travel to Salt Lake City; what will the virtual experience be like?

We will live-stream all of the keynote & general sessions, as well as the sponsored symposia. In addition, one concurrent session will also be live-streamed as well. All other concurrent and paper sessions will be pre-recorded and available on the conference platform at their respective start times. We are also pleased to offer networking opportunities in the virtual platform, a virtual poster hall, and opportunities to meet with exhibitors.

I will be attending in Salt Lake City. Will there be restrictions for in-person attendees?

As a healthcare organization, we feel it is important to follow current CDC guidance with the conference structure. As such, we will be adhering to current Utah requirements for conventions and events, which do not include masking mandates or physical distancing. In addition, we understand that the comfort level of our attendees will vary. Therefore, our meeting space will be structured to allow participation based on individual preferences. Visit the Salt Lake City COVID-19 website for the most current updates.

What if I start to feel unwell while attending the in-person conference?

If you start to feel unwell while attending the in-person event, we encourage you to participate in the event on our virtual platform from your hotel room. Visit coronavirus.utah.gov if you wish to find the nearest COVID-19 testing center while in Salt Lake City.

Why is APHON insisting on full vaccination to attend the conference in-person?

We are committed to creating a safe and healthy environment for all our attendees, exhibitors, and team members. Guided by best practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), APHON has determined that the 45th Annual Conference and Exhibit can be the most robust, productive and interactive conference possible by having attendees and exhibitors affirm that they have been or will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 2 weeks prior to the event.

How will APHON validate vaccination for in-person conference attendance?

During the registration process, APHON is requiring each registrant (attendees and exhibitors) to affirm that they have been or will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 2 weeks prior to the event that they agree to follow all health and safety protocols announced or posted for the event. APHON will not be requiring attendees and exhibitors to submit proof of their CDC-issued vaccination card and will not be requiring that attendees and exhibitors present a negative COVID-19 test result prior to attending or exhibiting at the event.

Will I be required to wear a mask during the 45th Annual Conference and Exhibit?

Effective April 10, 2021, the state of Utah expired its mask mandate, however, some locations and businesses may require a mask be worn on their premises. There is no current mandate from the state of Utah or Salt Lake County, but visitors should have a mask available and follow signage for those places that may require one. For those traveling to Utah from another U.S. state, there are currently no travel restrictions or quarantine requirements if one is healthy.

At this time, APHON is not requiring attendees and exhibitors to wear face coverings/masks. APHON will continue to monitor and assess evolving public health guidance regarding the use of masks in large gathering settings and will provide additional guidance on mask wearing on or before October 4, 2021.

What will be different in the exhibit hall?

Increased cleaning protocols will be implemented, including for any high-touch areas and/or demonstration products. Additionally, in the exhibit hall, APHON will facilitate appropriate space between and within booths and exhibitor sites. There will also be additional efforts to alleviate any potential congestion.

What will be different in the education sessions?

The Salt Palace Convention Center has removed all physical distancing guidelines, however, to support APHON’s strategic goals of inclusivity and to be sensitive to and promote the psychological safety of attendees, APHON is providing a customizable onsite experience that will offer a mix of physically distanced and regular seating.
