Dominic Sawaya is the Manager of Health Policy and Advocacy for the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON). He is a health policy and advocacy leader with extensive experience in public policy as well as legislative and regulatory advocacy at the federal and state levels. Dominic has led advocacy efforts with members of Congress and key staff supporting various legislative initiatives, including the Childhood Cancer Survivorship, Treatment, Access, and Research (STAR) Act and the Affordable Care Act (ACA). He has also worked to advocate for access to care and research funding through the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In addition to APHON, Dominic manages health policy and advocacy for the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (ASPHO) and has worked in this capacity for the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM). He earned his MA in Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) from Northwestern University, JD from the University of Detroit Mercy, and BA from Michigan State University.
