Colleen Nixon has been a pediatric oncology and stem cell transplant (HSCT) RN since 1987. In 1995 she assumed the role of the clinical coordinator on the oncology/hematology unit; responsible for staff evaluations, budget, and the daily running of the 19-bed unit. In 2004 she assumed the role of clinical educator of the inpatient oncology unit and in 2010 the outpatient oncology unit (Jimmy Fund Clinic). Colleen has been CPON-certified from 2000–present and CPHON-certified 2013–present. Since 2001 she has planned and coordinated a yearly pediatric oncology/hematology nursing certification review conference. She has presented multiple podium and poster presentations at the national APHON conference from 2001-present. She has also presented at ONS, SPN, ASPHO, ANPD and SIOP. Colleen has been an APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Instructor since 2004. She has authored various publications and most recently was a section editor for the 4th edition of the APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Curriculum.
