Dr. Fares earned a BS and teaching diploma in mathematics and a masters in modeling and simulation from the Lebanese University. She received a PhD in Statistics from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, USA. She is currently an assistant professor of biostatistics at the Hariri School of Nursing, AUB. Dr. Fares was awarded the graduate excellence teaching award from Case Western Reserve University. Her research focus is on beat-to-beat blood pressure complexity and fluctuation in hypertension. She is also involved in research related nursing workforce and continuing education for nurses.

Stephanie Feist is an APRN in the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute at Cincinnati Children's with 11 years of experience in oncology. In addition to her role as an inpatient provider, Stephanie is the APRN Education Consultant for the division of Oncology. Responsibilities of this role include onboarding new APRNs, coordinating student placements and planning the CBDI Clinical Practice Lecture Series. Stephanie is also a content expert and facilitator of the Oncology Team Safety Simulation Program. She co-wrote the simulation scenarios and assists with facilitation and debrief of simulations. Stephanie's previous professional achievements include writing an IRB approved research study related to the use of oral cryotherapy for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis. She presented her research poster at the SPN Conference.

Erin Friedman started as a nurse in 2007 in pediatric hematology/oncology/ BMT. Erin has worked at 3 institutions in many capacities - bedside RN, care coordinator, nurse manager, and clinical educator. Being a part of APHON, an organization that brings together nurses from around the world with one common focus, pediatric hematology and oncology, means so much to Erin. Knowing that we gather nurses to learn from one another is so inspiring. As Erin talks to colleagues in other areas of nursing who don’t have the capacity to harness the power that APHON provides, she is grateful to be part of an organization that allows her to work in partnership with and learn from colleagues around the world. Erin draws professional energy from the collaboration and dedication of the nurses that care so passionately for kids with cancer and blood disorders.

Cecilia Gladbach has been a pediatric pediatric nurse for over 35 years and has been working in hematology oncology for the past 30 years. During that time, Cecilia held many different roles as an inpatient and outpatient nurse, a transplant coordinator and manager. Cecilia is currently the manager of the cellular therapy program at Children's Medical Center -Children's Health. Over the past year, Cecilia's role has allowed Cecilia to become an advocate and support for the team and patients in the everchanging world of healthcare and prior authorizations. Cecilia is also an active member of APHON at both the local and national levels. Cecilia is the current president of a local APHON chapter and a member of the professional development committee and past chair.

She was the representative for Baylor for TARC (Texas Alzheimer’s Research Consortium) and PECARN (Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network) for Texas Children’s Hospital. She then returned to obtain her BSN at University of Texas Houston and began her career as a bedside nurse in Stem Cell Transplant at MD Anderson for 5 years before becoming a nurse practitioner. She currently practices as a pediatric leukemia and lymphoma nurse practitioner for MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital. They currently offer several cutting edge clinical trials that provide new hope for children with cancer.

She splits her time between direct patient care and survivorship. She is the lead Nursing Educator for the STARS Survivorship Program at CT Children's. She has been a participant in the Hem/Onc nursing research and evidence-based practice workgroup since 2015 with a focus on evolving the transition off treatment for children and AYAs and with cancer and their families. She and her fellow workgroup members have developed and implemented an evidence-based End of Treatment Transition program, which is currently in the evaluation phase.

Rachel Hollis is a children’s cancer nurse, and retired from her role as Lead Nurse for children’s cancer at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust in 2018, remaining there as an Honorary Nurse Adviser. Before retirement Rachel spent almost thirty years working in pediatric oncology and hematology in Leeds, and has been involved in developing services for children and young people with cancer at the local, national and international level. Since she retired she has remained active in the field of children’s cancer care in a number of voluntary, advisory and professional roles.

Dr. Lisa Jacobson is the Director of Research, as well as a licensed psychologist and pediatric neuropsychologist in the Department of Neuropsychology, Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is also the co-Director of the Center for Innovation and Leadership in Special Education (CILSE). She holds an appointment as an associate professor in psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She provides neuropsychological evaluations for children with a variety of developmental and medical conditions, but primarily pediatric cancer survivors within the Neuropsychology Department's Neuro-oncology Clinic. Dr. Jacobson's broad research interests include examining cognitive and behavioral aspects of neurodevelopmental disorders, specifically related to brain-behavior relationships involving attention and executive functions. She investigates ways in which parents and teachers scaffold development of executive skills. Dr. Jacobson is also interested in working to help the Institute better capture and learn from point-of-care data to improve the quality of healthcare provided at Kennedy Krieger.

Dr. Kelly has over 30 years experience in pediatric oncology nursing. She is a Nurse Scientist at the Childrens National Hospital in Washington DC. Dr. Kelly's program of research focuses on child and family communication in childhood cancer and other pediatric diseases. She has presented multiple times at annual APHON conferneces. Drs. Kelly, Schulz, and Pyke-Grimm are pediatric hematology oncology nurse scientists at their respective organizations. Together they have well over 60 years experience in pediatric hematology/oncology nursing clinical care and research. This work represents a bi-coastal collaboration to conduct a systematic review of the literature and metasynthesis to describe child and adolescent self-reported cancer communication preferences.
