Dr. Miguel Abboud is a Professor of Pediatrics, Hematology-Oncology, Head of Sickle Cell Disease Program Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the American University of Beirut. Dr. Abboud was the first medical director (and co-founder) of the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon.
Dr. Abboud established a successful bone marrow transplant service, limb salvage surgery, and sickle cell disease programs as well as an acute lymphoblastic leukemia research protocol in collaboration with the Leukemia/Lymphoma Division at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, USA. Dr. Abboud has published more than 150 articles in international journals. He is also the regional associate editor/editor or reviewer in numerous renowned journals including Pediatric Blood Cancer, Circulation, The Lancet, and the New England Journal of Medicine. During his professional career, Dr. Abboud has been accorded many awards and honors.
