Mary Newman, MSN RN NE-BC CPON®Director of Nursing, Nemours Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders

Mary Newman has been a Registered Nurse since 1986. She received her undergraduate degree from Gwynedd-Mercy College, her MSN in Health Care Administration from the University of Delaware and is currently enrolled in the DNP Program at Villanova University. She holds two certifications, as a Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse (CPON), and is Board Certified as a Nurse Executive (NE-BC).

Mary is the Director of Nursing for Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Nemours Children’s Health in Wilmington, DE. She has been an active member of the Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses (APHON) since 2005, where she served as President of the First State Chapter, Director of Membership Activities, and Treasurer. Mary has volunteered on several committees for APHON National and is currently a member of the Local Chapter Committee, the APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Curriculum Committee, and the Professional Development Committee. She was a member of the Nominating Committee 2015-2017, and served as chair in 2017. Mary was the primary author for the APHON Resource for Ancillary Staff published in 2021. She is also an instructor for the APHON Chemotherapy Biotherapy Course. Mary is passionate about resiliency in nursing and developing nurses as leaders.
