Jessica Dean (JD) Murphy is a Pediatric Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse Practitioner at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore, MD, as well as adjunct faculty at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She obtained her BSN from Stevenson University in 2008 and began her nursing career as a pediatric oncology RN before obtaining her MS in Pediatric Acute Care Advanced Practice Nursing from the University of Maryland in 2012.
She has NP experience in pediatric intensive care and pediatric hematology/oncology, in addition to her current role. In addition to her clinical practice, Ms. Murphy is a DNP-Executive student at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and will graduate in May 2022. While completing her DNP degree, Ms. Murphy has also taken on the Nurse Educator Certificate Option and is completing a teaching practicum to focus on providing effective education to future nurse practitioners. She was selected as a Cohen Scholar and obtained Certified Nurse Educator status during this time, further demonstrating her expertise in nursing education principles as well as commitment to continued improvement in this role. Her doctoral project focuses on optimizing nutritional support for children undergoing blood and marrow transplantation.
