Deborah (Deb) Echtenkamp is the CNS for the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Health in Dallas, Texas. She received her BSN from Truman State University in Missouri and her MSN from California State University in Fresno. Deb has over 30 years of experience caring and advocating for children with cancer and blood disorders. After gaining experience in both Nebraska and California, Deb moved to Texas where she was instrumental in establishing the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/SCT program at Medical City Children's Hospital.
She has spoken locally and nationally on a variety of hematology/oncology and professional issues. She has been an active member of APHON for many years, serving in a variety of leadership roles. She was a member of the team that developed the Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Program, has represented APHON at the initial Pediatric ELNEC course, and is a past president. In 2011, Deb co-founded both Camp iHope and the Camp iHope Foundation. Camp iHope is a camp for children with cancer and their siblings that serves 125 children in the North Texas area. She currently serves as the camp's co-director and president of the foundation.
