Caroline Costello has been a pediatric nurse for over thirty-seven years and is both CPON certified and BMTCN. Thirty of those years have been in Pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) both at Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) and Duke University Medical Center. For the past twenty-four years Caroline has been at BCH on the HSCT Unit, serving as the Nursing Education Coordinator for the past fifteen years. As the educator Caroline facilitates and provides patient and staff education. For families Caroline has developed patient teaching videos and family education sheets as well as provide one-one education. For nursing staff development, Caroline developed specific program initiatives as well as facilitate all education initiative in the program.
In addition, I am a APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Instructor and BLS instructor providing classes 2 – 3 times per year at BCH. I have been invited to speak at national and regional conferences in regards to the HSCT patient. I am both CPON certified and BMTCN. I recently became certified in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC). I am active member of several committees, councils, and SME groups at BCH. I am also active on committees nationally. I am on the BMTCN Item Writing Committee for ONCC.
