Sherry Johnson, MSN, RN, CPON, NE-BC is the Director of Nursing Excellence at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Sherry has worked in the specialty of Hematology/Oncology for 28 years where she has held various roles including bedside nurse, unit educator, clinical coordinator, manager, and Director of Magnet and Quality.
As the Director of Nursing Excellence she is responsible for providing leadership for the development and implementation of programs and activities designed to strengthen nursing professional practice throughout the organization including planning, organizing, developing, directing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating the human and material resources necessary to support compliance with the ANCC Magnet Model standards.
Sherry holds a MSN with a focus in Nursing Administration. She is a member of the American and Tennessee Nurses Association, AACN, and local and national member of APHON. She holds a certification in Nursing Administration, certification in Pediatric Oncology Nursing since 1996 and is a Fundamentals of Magnet Certificate Holder. She served on the ONCC CPON Passing Score Task Force in 2003 and the ONCC CPON Item Writer in 2007. She has presented at local and national conferences and was the co-project leader in the development and implementation of the St. Jude Warning Scoring System.
