Dr. Rivero is the Chief Patient Safety Officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine. Her faculty appointment is with the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Dr. Rivero has been with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for more than 25 years and clinically serves the patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as well as the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. She graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at CHLA.
Dr. Rivero also completed her fellowship in pediatric critical care at CHLA. Prior to being named Chief Patient Safety Officer in December of 2013, she enjoyed her role as the Director of the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship. She works closely with the entire Quality and Safety team towards eliminating harm and creating the safest possible environment for thier patients. In addition, Dr. Rivero has taught leadership in the Masters of Academic Medicine program at the University of Southern California and is the Co-Director of the leadership and professionalism curriculum offered to patient care providers at CHLA. These curriculums foster trainees and staff to become their best clinically and professionally through personal mastery.
