Melissa Varda graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor's degree in nursing in 2009. While at James Madison, Melissa was inducted into the Honor Society of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau International. Upon graduation, Melissa began her nursing career at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and has been a clinical nurse on both the inpatient and ambulatory pediatric units. Melissa presented a poster at APHON in 2015, and ONS 2016 about the effects of nursing burnout, tips for prevention, and the program initiated to help alleviate the daily stressors among nursing staff. In 2018 Melissa transitioned to clinical trials and research nursing with the pediatric bone marrow transplant team at MSK. Melissa is currently working toward her Master’s degree at New York University in Psychiatric Mental Health Advanced Practice Nursing.
