Mary Baron Nelson received her BSN from Salem State College, MS in nursing from Boston College, and PhD in nursing from UCLA. She has over 30 years of experience in pediatric oncology nursing, primarily focusing on neuro-oncology and late effects. She is currently an assistant professor of clinical pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine at USC and an adjunct assistant professor at the UCLA School of Nursing. She is primarily a nurse scientist whose research focuses on improving the quality of life of children with brain tumors through psychosocial support, and by identifying neuroimaging biomarkers of brain injury after cancer treatment.
