Kathy Pool, MSN RN CPNPPediatric Nurse Practitioner

Kathy Pool graduated from Arizona State University In 1988 with a BSN and worked in Pediatrics at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix getting a good basic knowledge of caring for children in the acute care setting. A few years later Kathy moved to Colorado and was hired as an RN to help open a new Pediatric Oncology Unit at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Denver.

Through this experience, Mary fell in love with Pediatric Oncology. After obtaining her MSN from the University of Colorado in 1997, she went into primary care pediatrics, then pediatric surgery before coming back to her true calling in Pediatric Oncology at Children's Hospital Colorado, where she has been for the past 10 years. Kathy is a part of the Liquid tumor team at Children's caring for kids of all ages with leukemia and lymphoma. Kathy is also a part of the fertility team, established to address the needs of childhood cancer survivors and the impact on their future fertility. She works on a process improvement team to ensure our patient population gets prompt treatment with IV antibiotics when they present with fever and neutropenia. Kathy's passion for helping children and families navigate cancer therapy drives me every day to be the best nurse practitioner she can be.
