Kathleen D. Pagana, PhD RNProfessor Emeritus, Lycoming College President

Kathy has a BSN from the University of Maryland and an MSN and PhD in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She has been a leader in healthcare for more than 45 years with experiences including military service, clinical practice, college teaching, administration, publishing, speaking, and consulting.

She has recently been awarded the prestigious designation of “Certified Speaking Professional” by the National Speakers’ Association.

Kathy has written more than 90 articles. She and her husband are the co-authors of 29 books with translations in French, Chinese, Korean, Greek, Spanish, Polish, and Portuguese. Nearly 2 million copies of the Pagana & Pagana "Mosby’s Diagnostic and Laboratory Test Reference" have sold worldwide. The second edition of her book, "The Nurse’s Etiquette Advantage," received an AJN Book of the Year Award in 2015. Kathy is also a contributing author of "Chicken Soup for the Nurse’s Soul."

Kathy’s involvement in health care extends from the Board Room to the Bedside. Being a member of the Board of Directors of a regional medical center has helped Kathy understand the complexity of healthcare and the ongoing challenges for quality patient care in an environment of cost containment. She keeps current in nursing practice by working in a hospital several days a month. She is committed to life balance and has learned many helpful strategies while working, writing, and raising a family.
