Dr. Gowans is the Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Beaumont Children's in Royal Oak, Michigan, and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University and received her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit.
Her pediatric residency training was at DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, followed by fellowship training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplantation at the University of Wisconsin Children’s Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Prior to her current position, Dr. Gowans was on staff at Cleveland Clinic Children's, where she served as the pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship program director and director of the comprehensive sickle cell clinic. She is currently pursuing integrative medicine instruction through the University of Michigan and Beaumont Health Integrative Medicine.
