Colleen Nixon is from Boston Children's Hospital and has been caring for pediatric oncology and hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) patients since 1987. In 1995 Ms. Nixon assumed the role of the clinical coordinator on the oncology/hematology unit and is responsible for the daily running of the 19-bed unit.
In 2003 Colleen assumed the role of patient educator and in 2004-present, assumed the role of clinical educator of the inpatient oncology unit and in 2010-2017 the outpatient oncology unit (Jimmy Fund Clinic). CPON certified from 2000-2014; CPHON certified 2013-present. Planned and coordinated a pediatric oncology/hematology nursing certification review conference from 2001-present. Multiple podium and poster presentations at the national APHON conference from 2001-present. Have also presented at ONS, SPN, and ASPHO. 10/04 completed the APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Instructor course. CPHON of the year in 2012. National APHON local chapter liaison 2013-present & APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy committee 2015-present. Section editor and author of the APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Curriculum.
